Russia ranked third in the world in terms of arms and military equipment exports between 2020 and 2024. These data are presented in a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
Analysts examined supplies from 64 exporting countries, including aircraft, warships, air defense systems, and tanks. The United States ranked first (43%). France was second (9.6%).
Russia accounts for 7.8% of global exports. At the same time, according to SIPRI experts, the volume of arms and equipment sent to other countries has decreased by 64% over the past 5 years.
The decline since 2022 is likely due to Russia's decision to prioritize the production of key weapons for its own armed forces.
The report indicates that 33 countries became buyers of Russian weapons.
Who Russia sends weapons and equipment to:
- Asia and Oceania (74%)
- Africa (12%)
- Armenia, Belarus and Serbia (7.4%)
- Middle East (6.4%)
Major buyers of Russian-made weapons are India, China, and Kazakhstan. Deliveries of weapons from the Russian Federation to India, Iran, and Saudi Arabia are expected in the near future.
Rostec previously criticized SIPRI's work. The state corporation explained that Russia, like China, does not publish data on arms exports.
