The new Russian engine "Product 177C" for equipping multi-purpose fighters of generations 4++ and 5, corresponds to French and American analogues, and in some characteristics surpasses them. This was announced by the Deputy General Director of the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) for sales and service, Alexey Nesterenko.
In terms of its characteristics, "Product 177C" is competitive to analogues of French and American production.
The «Изделие 177С» engine was presented on the sidelines of the Aero India air show in Bangalore. According to Nesterenko, long-standing fruitful ties with Indian colleagues will contribute to the development of cooperation, including on this engine.
The 177C engine belongs to the fifth generation, and it can be installed both on aircraft with power plants of the previous generation without making changes to the design, and on new generation aircraft.
In terms of technical characteristics and weight and size dimensions, the engine corresponds to the previous generation. At the same time, its thrust has been increased - 14.5 tons, which is 2 tons more than the previous generation. The overhaul life of the engine is 1 500 hours, and the assigned life is 6 000 hours.
