Yakut clay armor developed for Russian military: withstands point-blank shots

Armor is 30% lighter than foreign counterparts

Specialists in Yakutia have developed an innovative armor system that surpasses foreign models in its characteristics. The joint development of "Khotu Tent" company and scientist Vasily Tagrov, based on Yakut clay, turned out to be a third lighter than foreign armor.

The armor has undergone testing with various weapons, including Kalashnikov assault rifles and sniper rifles. It demonstrated excellent protection against ammunition and prevented the formation of fragments and ricochets, which will increase the safety of military personnel.

The armor successfully withstood firing from 90 meters with domestic weapons, as well as from short distances — 5 and 15 meters — with foreign weapons.

Now, the developers plan to expand the application of the technology. Thanks to clay deposits, production can be organized anywhere in Yakutia.
