Specialists from the D.I. Mendeleev Russian University of Chemical Technology have created the first industrial installation in the country for horizontal mixing of solid and liquid components of solutions. This invention makes it possible to achieve a higher homogeneity of mixtures compared to classical methods, in which substances are mixed in special containers.
The device is a pipe with a rotating shaft, inside which materials are transformed into a homogeneous mass. This technology is important for creating high-quality composites used in aviation and automotive engineering, the textile industry, and the food industry. The complexity of developing such installations is associated with the need for high precision in manufacturing parts, minimizing vibrations, and precisely positioning all components.
A special feature of the installation is its design, where the shaft is equipped with two types of nozzles: some provide mixing, while others transport materials from loading to discharge. This simplifies the technological process and eliminates the need to transfer mixtures between containers.
The development is focused on creating homogeneous suspensions, such as mixtures of polyacrylonitrile and dimethylacetamide, used in the production of fabrics, aircraft parts, automobiles, and sports equipment. At the same time, the installation is versatile and can be used in other industries where the creation of suspensions and emulsions is required.
Experts emphasize the importance of the invention for small-tonnage chemistry and food production. For example, the device is potentially suitable for making mayonnaise if it can provide the required homogeneity and mixing speed.
