Russian cosmonauts may fly to the ISS on American Crew Dragon spacecraft

The final decision will be made by the interdepartmental commission

Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev and Oleg Platonov may be included in the crews of American Crew Dragon spacecraft as part of the cross-flight program to the International Space Station (ISS), according to Maxim Kharlamov, head of the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC).

We have another stage of preparation for the Dragon flight currently being undertaken by Kirill Peskov. And in the future, Oleg Platonov or Oleg Artemyev, for example, may be assigned.

Currently, Oleg Platonov is undergoing introductory training, but the final decision on his admission to the crew will be made by the interdepartmental commission. Kharlamov emphasized that various factors are taken into account when assigning cosmonauts to crews, including psychological interaction between team members.

Thus, the participation of Russian cosmonauts in flights on Crew Dragon could be an important step in the development of international cooperation in the field of space research.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center is checking the operation of the Teledroid robot.
