In 2024, drivers aged 51 to 60 received the most "modest" fines from the traffic police. This follows from a study conducted by the Russian Standard Bank.
According to the bank's statistics, the lowest fines for traffic violations last year were for drivers aged 51 to 60 years — an average of 622 rubles. The highest amounts were for drivers aged 31 to 40 years — 734 rubles. Drivers aged 41 to 50 years paid an average of 627 rubles.
The average fine paid through bank cards increased from 653 to 675 rubles. At the same time, the average fine for traffic violations for men was higher than for women: 697 rubles versus 612 rubles, respectively.
In 2024, as statistics showed, the average fine paid in the fourth quarter reached its maximum — 740 rubles. This can be explained by the fact that at this time of year there are often adverse weather conditions that increase the likelihood of traffic accidents.
The list of the most "penalized" quarters is also led by the first, which falls on the cold period of the year. The average fine at this time is 733 rubles. In third place is the third quarter with an average fine of 680 rubles. Closing is the second quarter with a figure of 590 rubles.
In the course of the study, the bank's specialists analyzed all transactions for payment of traffic police fines made using Russian Standard cards in 2024 and 2023. In addition, the average payment amounts were studied depending on the gender and age of customers.
From January 1, 2025, fines for traffic violations increased in Russia. Driving under the influence of alcohol or refusing to undergo a medical examination is now punishable by sanctions of up to 45,000 rubles. For speeding, the driver will be fined up to 7,500 rubles. And driving through a red light or a prohibiting gesture of a traffic controller will "cost" up to 1,500 rubles.
