In 2025, testing of the latest BrahMos-NG missile, jointly produced by India and the United States, will begin for aviation platforms. It has become smaller and lighter - 1.33 tons against 2.65 tons for the previous version, is able to more effectively resist electronic warfare and has a lower radar signature.
The Indian-developed Tejas light fighter will be able to carry two such missiles, and the Su-30MKI - four at once.
Initially, the BrahMos missile was developed in a shipborne version based on the P-800 Onyx. The missile is capable of developing a speed of 2.5 to 2.8 M, that is, 2.5-2.8 times the speed of sound.
The firing range along a combined trajectory is 300 km, at low altitude - 120 km. Flight altitude - 5-15000 m.
The missile is assembled by BrahMos Aerospace in Hyderabad and JSC "PO "Strela" in Orenburg.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Su-30MS fighters of naval aviation received R-37M ultra-long-range missiles in the weapons system.
