The Russian 152-mm self-propelled artillery unit "Msta-S" on the front lines disabled an American 155-mm towed howitzer M777A2 manufactured in the USA. Target illumination was carried out using an LDC integrated into the optoelectronic module of the Orlan-30 reconnaissance UAV.
The military used a guided projectile ZOF95 "Krasnopol-M2", which hit the tracked part of the equipment and disabled it.
"Krasnopol-M2" was developed by the Instrument Design Bureau named after Academician A. G. Shipunov (part of the NPO "High-Precision Complexes"). In addition to the high-explosive fragmentation guided projectile, it also includes a laser target designator-rangefinder, which is used to aim at the target.
The flight range of the ammunition is 20 km, the mass of the warhead is 8 kg. The target designator of the Krasnopol complex is capable of capturing up to three targets simultaneously.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a Russian FPV drone destroyed a rare American L3 Harris Vampire SAM system for the first time.
