The Special Technological Center (STC) has begun developing new unmanned aerial vehicles that will replace the Orlan-10 and Orlan-30 complexes in the future. They are built taking into account the intricacies and wishes that the Russian Ministry of Defense formulated in the technical specifications.
Roman Ivanov, the organization's general designer, noted that due to the large volume of production, work on the new generation of Orlan has slowed down, but has not stopped.
You could say that these will be the same aircraft: engines, wings, and targeting equipment. The new complexes are designed to replace the existing Orlan-10 and Orlan-30, but changing horses midstream is a difficult task, and the customer understands this too.
Ivanov noted that work is underway in parallel to modernize existing products and fulfill the state defense order. According to him, the company's main task is to ensure the fulfillment of combat missions, and not to saturate the market.
Of course, we are fully fulfilling the planned work in accordance with contracts for the supply of our equipment. There are also tasks for modernization, the development of our equipment, which will allow it to be used more successfully. They are also underway.
