Моль съест пластик: в Новосибирске придумали технологию утилизации материала

The new approach is cheaper and more environmentally friendly than thermal recycling

A new line of wax moths for recycling non-recyclable plastic has been created at Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU). This was reported by the university's press service.

The peculiarity of the new project is the creation of a new line of wax moths that eat plastic. Studies have shown that 200 larvae of the insect eat 4 kg of non-recyclable material in 10 days. This approach does not harm the environment, unlike recycling using the thermal method.

Most often, organizations prefer to get rid of plastic with fire, which is very harmful to the environment. Creating insect farms is a new environmentally friendly and, most importantly, cheap way to dispose of plastic from the point of view of its implementation.

The waste products of insects are planned to be used in medicine, cosmetology and agriculture. With their help, you can create biogels, various dietary supplements and tinctures.
