St. Petersburg officials banned from using Telegram and WhatsApp

The domestic eXpress platform was offered as an alternative

The Committee for Informatization and Communications of St. Petersburg has banned government officials from using foreign messengers WhatsApp and Telegram. Instead, they were offered to use the eXpress platform. This was reported in the office of the city's Vice Governor Stanislav Kazarin.

Officials in St. Petersburg began receiving letters asking them to stop using foreign messengers at the beginning of autumn this year. The decision was motivated by a desire to prevent "facts of compromise, destruction or modification of restricted information, as well as preventing prerequisites for such facts."

It is worth noting that the eXpress platform was developed by the Russian company Unlimited Production. The messenger is already used by hundreds of thousands of users. The application is positioned as a superapp with a wide range of functions.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is switching to a new messenger.
