Corporation fulfills obligations under ITER cooperation

The ITER Project Center (part of the Rosatom State Corporation) has sent the largest shipment of equipment in 2024 to France for the thermonuclear megaproject (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, ITER). This involves a frame for the first test stand. It is needed for vacuum, strength, thermal, and functional testing of port plugs of the vacuum chamber. This was reported by the corporation's press service.

The metal structure, weighing more than 20 tons, is necessary to evenly distribute the load on the floor, arising from the test chamber and the loading and unloading system during the loading of port plugs.

The test stand was manufactured in Bryansk using unique Russian technologies. Thanks to them, scientists will be able to create conditions inside the stand that are close to the operating conditions of the thermonuclear installation itself.

Rosatom takes its obligations under ITER seriously. All previously concluded agreements are being fulfilled accurately and on time, said Anatoly Krasilnikov, Director of the ITER Project Center.

The construction of ITER began in 2010 in the French province of Provence. The project is necessary to refine technological processes and demonstrate the result of the application of thermonuclear fusion.
