Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (BMZ) (part of the Russian Engineering Union) has manufactured two TEM18DM shunting locomotives. The tractors have joined the fleet of the Belarusian company "Nedra Nezhin". The locomotives have already started operating on the company's premises.
The company "Nedra Nezhin" is engaged in the extraction of mineral raw materials for chemical production and fertilizer production. The Bryansk locomotives will be used for the construction of a mining and processing complex at one of the potash salt deposits.
This first interaction with "Nedra Nezhin" was an important step for the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant in developing partnerships with Belarusian companies. TEM18DM shunting locomotives are manufactured in Russia from domestic components and are included in the Register of Russian Industrial Products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Technical characteristics of TEM18DM shunting locomotives:
- Engine power — 882 kW (1200 hp)
- Weight — 126 t
- Design speed 110 km/h
- Continuous speed — 10.5 km/h
- Fuel reserves — 5,400 kg
- Service life — 32 years.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Railways increased its locomotive fleet by 399 units in 2025.
