The Russian military has set a new record for the effective range of target engagement using the Kornet anti-tank missile system. It reached 8,150 meters, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Thanks to his experience and professionalism, the operator of the Kornet complex, controlling a missile flying over the water surface, was able to hit an enemy electronic warfare station located at a distance of 8,150 m from the firing position.
Operating in a combat situation, the paratroopers set a new record for the effective range of target engagement with the Kornet ATGM.
The Kornet is designed to engage modern and advanced tanks equipped with dynamic protection, fortifications, extended non-armored and lightly armored targets, and hovering helicopters.
Technical characteristics of the Kornet ATGM:
- Missile caliber — 152 mm
- Firing range — 100 – 5500 m
- Control system — semi-automatic, laser beam guided
- Armor penetration of the HEAT warhead — 1,000 – 1200 mm
- Reloading time of the launcher — 30 s
