New Microelectronics Design Center to Be Established in St. Petersburg

Over a Billion Rubles Planned for Budget Development and Equipment Procurement for the Center

A new microelectronics design center is being established in Russia at the D. I. Mendeleev All-Russian Research Institute for Metrology (VNIIM named after D. I. Mendeleev) in St. Petersburg. The design and procurement of equipment for the center will cost over one billion rubles.

The center will be created as part of the state program "Development of the Electronic and Radio-Electronic Industry" and will be located in Lomonosov (part of St. Petersburg). It will include equipment for testing digital microcircuits, semiconductor and high-voltage products, with a total cost of about 640 million rubles. A laboratory will also be created for the study of special gases and materials for the electronics industry, including gas chromatographs and gas analyzers, the cost of equipment for which will be approximately 472 million rubles.

The main goal of the design center is to perform key functions for the technical regulation of radio-electronic equipment and ultra-high-frequency microelectronics at the national and international levels.

VNIIM named after D. I. Mendeleev, on the basis of which the center is being created, is one of the world's leading centers in the field of metrology and the country's main organization for fundamental research in this area.

Currently, an open competition has been announced for the development of design and estimate documentation worth 84.6 million rubles. Applications for participation are accepted until August 28, 2024, and the estimate should be ready by February 15, 2025.
