Russia has announced plans to deploy the advanced 2S38 "Derivation-PVO" anti-aircraft artillery system. This is a tracked vehicle based on the BMP-3, which is designed to combat drones, as well as to fire at lightly armored targets, writes Army Recognition.
The main weapon of the vehicle is a single 57-mm automatic cannon, supported by an advanced fire control system. "Derivation-PVO" has a target tracking radar, electro-optical sensors and a ballistic computer. These systems allow you to hit targets at long ranges and with high accuracy, which makes it a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
According to Army Recognition, the anti-aircraft artillery system is particularly effective against UAVs of various types. It destroys drones at different altitudes.
2S38 is also effective against lightly armored targets, such as armored personnel carriers (APCs). This versatility makes "Derivation-PVO" an important asset on the battlefield, capable of neutralizing both air and ground threats with equal efficiency.
