МКС снова увеличила орбиту на 1,4 км из-за российских «Союзов»

This is necessary to create ballistic conditions for Soyuz MS-25 and Soyuz MS-26

In the fall, the manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-26 will go into orbit, and Soyuz MS-25 will return home to Earth. However, preparations for this are already underway at the ISS. More than a week ago, the space station already changed its orbital altitude to create ballistic conditions for the Soyuz spacecraft, but today it was forced to move a little more.

According to Roscosmos, at 01:39 Moscow time, the engines of Progress MS-26 were activated, which worked for 536 seconds, issuing an impulse of 0.78 m/s. As a result, the average altitude of the station's orbit increased by 1.36 km and amounted to 418.25 km above the Earth's surface.

Soyuz MS-26 had been in storage since December 2023, and in the past week it was removed from storage. It will go into Earth orbit in early September, with an estimated launch date of September 11. The main crew includes Roscosmos cosmonauts Alexey Ovchinin and Ivan Wagner, as well as NASA astronaut Donald Pettit.
