Russian multi-functional fighters use the Platan optoelectronic television laser system for targeting. The TV channel of this complex provides objective control over the delivery of strikes by gliding guided versions of FAB-500M-54/62, as well as FAB-1500M-54, ODAB-500, and FAB-3000 aerial bombs at a distance of up to 35 - 45 km from the drop lines, according to the Telegram channel @RussianArms.
At the same time, the new version of the complex may have experienced a significant increase from 12 - 15 FPS to 30+ FPS.
In the lower hemisphere of the Platan's field of view, there is practically no overlap with corrected UABs of the KAB-1500LG-F type or Kh-38ML/MT missiles placed on the front central suspension unit. The former are practically not used on the front lines due to the need for bombing from a distance of about 15 km and high altitudes.
During strike operations, targets placed on the front central suspension units can be launched first, freeing up the Platan's view.
In addition, monitoring target objects at a distance of 20 - 70 km requires the navigator-operator to give the focal plane of the Platan complex only a slight depression relative to the horizon line, about 20% degrees. At such angles, the missile and bomb armament placed on the suspension unit is not able to block the complex's field of view.
Earlier, a Su-34 flight in unmanned mode wasshown on video. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted that the autopilot of the bomber can control the aircraft even in terrain-following mode based on data from the Sh-141 Predator radar, which allows the crew to "unload" or have a snack in the buffet.
