The second S-500 "Prometheus" SAM system (manufactured by JSC "Concern VKO "Almaz-Antey"") has been deployed in the Kuban to repel strikes by MGM-140B ATACMS Block IA and MGM-164 ATACMS 2000 tactical ballistic missiles, as well as R-360 "Neptune" and SCALP-EG cruise missiles. This was reported by The Military Watch, citing Western electronic intelligence data.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev spoke about the main elements of the radar architecture and fire control system (FCS) of the S-500 "Prometheus". According to him, the SAM system has a radar complex (RLC) for illumination and target designation CU 77T6 with 10 target channels and an active phased antenna array (APAA) of the X-band.
The detection range of targets with an effective reflecting surface (ERS) of 0.1 sq. m is up to 250-300 km. In addition, the S-500 equipment allows tracking ballistic targets diving from the mesosphere and stratosphere at an angle of 75-90°.
The S-500 also has a 91N6 detection radar (RLO) with a double-sided reflective phased antenna array (PAR) with a detection range of high-altitude targets with an RCS of 0.1 sq. m at a distance of 300-350 km, 3 sq. m - up to 900-1000 km.
The complexes are equipped with advanced hypersonic interceptor missiles 77N6 with a range of 500-600 km and an effective altitude of targets up to 45 - 50 km.
According to him, these anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAMs) are a modification of the 9M82MD missiles for the S-300V4 air defense system. The S-500 "Prometheus" SAM system, thanks to the automated control system (ACS) "Polyana-D4M1", was integrated into the air defense system, which includes S-300 and S-400 divisions.
