The Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ) has completed the equipping of its machining shops with advanced milling processing centers of domestic production. The high-tech machines are specifically designed for the manufacture of complex components from titanium alloys used in the construction of the MC-21 passenger aircraft. The introduction of such equipment will optimize machining processes, ensuring increased accuracy and speed in the production of key elements of the fuselage and other aircraft components.
In addition to the machine tools, the plant has acquired a specialized software and hardware simulator of Russian manufacture, designed for training operators. The system includes a numerical control panel, a controller simulator, and a remote control, fully reproducing the interface of real machines. Thanks to this, specialists will be able to practice programming machine tools, installing tools, and monitoring the quality of parts processing in a safe virtual environment.
The equipment complex has already passed the commissioning stage and will soon be involved in personnel training, primarily for young engineers and operators. This is especially important for accelerating the production of the MC-21, where titanium alloys play a key role in ensuring the strength and lightness of the structure.
As a reminder, updates were already carried out at the plant in December 2025. Two modern high-performance milling centers were put into operation, which are designed for processing parts from aluminum alloys. They will be used to manufacture ribs, spars, beams, and other large components for aircraft.
IAZ builds MC-21 passenger aircraft, Su-30SM2 fighters, and Yak-130 light attack aircraft.
