Specialists of KB «Stratim» have developed the drone «Rusak-C» with a target recognition and homing system in the final section of the trajectory. This helps to complete the combat mission in case of loss of communication, in difficult terrain or due to the work of enemy electronic warfare.
Homing is an algorithm that translates the drone into automatic flight mode, in which all decisions occur on board, as a result of which the copter no longer needs to receive commands from the operator.
The design bureau explained that the «Rusak-C» is equipped with a single-board computer that, when capturing a target, issues commands to the flight controller. The functionality is similar to the homing head of the American Javelin ATGM.
The neural network is responsible for recognition. We trained it on terabytes of video, which allows us to accurately find artillery, armored vehicles and transport during the flight. Objects are highlighted with frames for the convenience of the operator.
The KB clarified that «Rusak-C» with a neural network has the following advantages: it «sees» the picture without interference, can work in autonomous mode.
«Rusak-C» is a «comrade» of the reconnaissance and strike drone «Rusak», which a week ago destroyed an American-made Stryker armored personnel carrier worth a million dollars. At the same time, the price of the UAV itself is 1000 times less than the Western armored personnel carrier. The drone was presented at the Helirussia-2024 exhibition in Moscow.
