More than 200 WWII-era munitions neutralized off the coast of the Kaliningrad region

Since the beginning of the year, engineers of the Baltic Fleet have eliminated more than one and a half thousand of these dangerous finds

In the Kaliningrad region, specialists from the mine clearance groups of a separate marine engineering regiment of the Baltic Fleet destroyed more than 200 pieces of ammunition from the Great Patriotic War. They were located at the bottom of the Baltic Sea in a sunken barge off the coast of the Kaliningrad region and posed a potential threat.

The shells were taken out and destroyed at one of the training grounds of the Baltic Fleet by detonation with TNT blocks. The number of explosive finds from the Great Patriotic War in the Kaliningrad region traditionally increases in the spring and summer. Defusing explosive objects in the regions of the region, where the East Prussian offensive operation took place during the war, is carried out by mine clearance groups of the Baltic Fleet periodically.
