Aircraft may be renamed «Yakovlev»

The domestic import-substituted short-range aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 may be renamed «Yakovlev». This was announced by the head of the state corporation «Rostec» Sergey Chemezov.

We have it all under the «A. S. Yakovlev Design Bureau». I think it will be — «Yakovlev»

He added that the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) will abandon the Superjet name in the future.

Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a passenger airliner produced in Russia, which was launched into commercial operation in 2011. It is capable of carrying 98 passengers and four crew members over distances of up to 4.4 thousand kilometers.

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Denis Manturov, in January announced the appearance of a new brand on the domestic aviation market. According to him, Superjet and MS-21 liners with varying degrees of localization will be included in it.
