Specialists from the Simbirsk Design Bureau (Ulyanovsk) have increased the production of "Piranha" strike drones to 300 units per day. Production is fully localized in Russia.
According to a representative of the Design Bureau, the "Piranha" has 64 configurations, including a configuration with a night camera, thermal imager, rotating camera, and explosive release system.
The standard "Piranha" drone performs three tasks: one-way flight (kamikaze mode), flight with return to the operator (explosive release), and reconnaissance mission
Technical characteristics of the "Piranha" FPV drone:
- Payload — up to 5 kg
- Flight range — 15 km
- The mass of the drone varies depending on the configuration within 2 kg
The "Piranha" drone was talked about after it destroyed an American M1A1 Abrams tank in late February 2024. The drone strikes armored vehicles, the cost of which is hundreds of times higher than its own cost. It was created for attacks on dugouts and enemy trenches.
