Стали известны последствия блокировки иностранных соцсетей в России

Major companies have stopped advertising on platforms blocked by Roskomnadzor

The foreign social networks Instagram and Facebook (both platforms are banned in Russia) have lost most of their Russian audience in two years due to restrictions imposed by Roskomnadzor.

As of February 2024, an average of 6.8 million users from Russia visited Instagram at least once a day. This is 5.7 times less than the figure for February 2022, when the platform was visited by 38.4 million people. Facebook's audience decreased from 8.9 million people to 1.4 million people over the same period.

Against this background, large companies have stopped advertising on social networks. In addition, many bloggers have lost earnings due to the lack of advertising and partnership projects.

In March 2022, Roskomnadzor blocked access to Facebook and Instagram, as they belong to Meta, which was recognized by the Moscow court as extremist. The organization is also banned in the Russian Federation.

Earlier, a law came into force on fines for individuals and legal entities for placing advertising on the resources of foreign agents.
