Kalashnikov enterprise to improve the Los 145 carbine

IMZ is conducting a major modernization of the carbine - what to expect in the updated model?

The Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (JSC IMZ, an enterprise within the Kalashnikov concern) is working intensively to modernize the Los 145 hunting carbine in .308Win caliber (for the 7.62x51 cartridge). This process includes not only expanding the range of ammunition used, but also creating a five-round magazine, which will significantly increase functionality and ease of use.

According to the plant's press service, one of the key changes will be the replacement of the receiver with an aluminum structure, which will make the carbine lighter and more durable.

The management of IMZ expects that after the implementation of these changes, the demand for the Los carbine will grow, especially among hunters and athletes. Recent data showed that the Los became the best-selling among IMZ rifled carbines in Russia, its sales increased by 24% in 2023.

JSC IMZ has extensive experience in the production of hunting weapons, produced under the Baikal brand for more than thirty years. The innovations and improvements introduced in the Los model continue the tradition of high quality and reliability, which the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant follows. Since 2013, the enterprise has been part of the Kalashnikov group; at the end of 2023, the plant reported on the successful completion of a state contract for the supply of the Lebedev compact pistol.

At the beginning of the year, IMZ reported its intention to invest more than 170 million rubles in the modernization of its tool division. It was planned that new equipment would be purchased and installed in the workshop for the manufacture of molds, dies, auxiliary equipment and gauges with these funds.
