«Kalashnikov» spoke about the tests of the Russian invention - shrapnel blanket "Aegis". Tests were conducted at TSNIITOCHMASH range, the serial sample of the blanket was tested for resistance to the explosion of F-1 and RGN grenades from a distance of 3 and 5 meters (the initial speed of shrapnel can exceed 700 m/s).

It turned out that the blanket is quite effective: it stopped more than 85% of the shrapnel that hit it. And the fragments that pierced the blanket did not pose a threat to life, as they lost their damaging ability.

But the tests were not over: with the help of a Stechkin pistol, "Aegis" was tested for bullet resistance: no penetrations were recorded from a distance of 5 meters.

«Kalashnikov» notes that such a shrapnel blanket is already being produced serially and is in demand among both large customers and among private buyers.
