Bulgarian Military: India to Purchase Kalibr Anti-Ship Missiles from Russia

Club-N missile systems are designed to engage enemy surface ships and submarines

The Indian Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with Rosoboronexport for the supply of a batch of Kalibr anti-ship cruise missiles (export version of Club). Bulgarian Military writes that it is referring to the 3M-54TE version of the missile.

The 3M-54 "Kalibr/Club" missile was developed by the Novator design bureau. It entered service in 1994. It can be carried by submarines of the "Kilo", "Lada", "Yasen" and "Borei" projects, as well as surface ships, including "Admiral Gorshkov", "Admiral Grigorovich", "Gremyashchiy" and "Buyan-M".

According to Rosoboronexport, Club-S (submarine-based) and Club-N (ship-based) missile systems engage surface ships and submarines in conditions of intense fire and electronic countermeasures from the enemy.

The Club-N missile system is equipped with unified launchers and transport and launch containers (for vertical launch). The complex launches the 3M-54TE anti-ship missile.

  • Length - 8.916 m
  • Diameter - 0.645 m
  • Weight - 3655 kg
  • Range - 220 km
  • Warhead weight - 200 kg
  • Guidance system type - inertial + active radar seeker
