Soviet and Russian aircraft are considered among the best in the world. In the XX century , our engineers developed promising projects that could have influenced the development of aviation. However, many of them did not go into mass production.
Su-47
Russian experimental carrier-based fighter, created in the Sukhoi Design Bureau. The Su-47 is made according to the aerodynamic configuration of a "longitudinal integrated triplane" with a reverse-swept wing. The first flight of the fighter took place in 1997. The engineers of the Sukhoi Design Bureau closed this project and switched to the Su-57.
Su-47 characteristics:
- Length — 22.6 m
- Wingspan — 16.7 m
- Empty weight — 19,500 kg
- Maximum take-off weight — 38,500 kg
- Engine — D-30F6
- Speed at altitude — 2500 km/h
Sukhoi Supersonic Business Jet (SSBJ, С-21)
Soviet, then Russian project of a supersonic business class passenger aircraft. The С-21 was developed by engineers of the Sukhoi Design Bureau. In search of funding, they collaborated with Gulfstream Aerospace, Dassault Aviation. Investors from China were also involved in the project. However, it was not possible to find funds to create a prototype of the С-21.
The world's first aircraft with cannons on its wings
In the 40s of the last century, the Kocherigin Design Bureau built a light attack aircraft with non-retractable landing gear in fairings - Sh-1 (LBSh) with an M-88 engine. The main feature of the aircraft was 2 wing-mounted cannons (Shpitalny-Vladimirov Aviation Large-Caliber, ShVAK). The attack aircraft never went into series production; instead, the Yak-1 single-engine fighter began to be produced.
LBSh characteristics:
- Length — 10 m
- Wingspan — 12 m
- Empty aircraft weight — 2806 kg
- Engine — PD M-88
- Power — 1100 hp
- Maximum speed at altitude — 446 km/h
- Practical ceiling of altitude — 9820 m
