Russia could sell 200 MC-21 aircraft to India, which are built at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ, part of PAO "Yakovlev"). This is the potential demand from Indian carriers estimated by Russian OAK, said Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Sberbank Management Board.
According to him, the parties have not yet determined the time frame for such deliveries at this stage. Vedyakhin clarified that this is an ambitious number for years to come.
The promotion of the MC-21 in the Indian market is planned. There are different estimates. For example, OAK estimates the potential order from Indian airlines to be between 100 and 200 aircraft. We will do our best to help our colleagues implement these plans.
From "Pervy Tekhnichesky": if we assume that the MC-21 will have to be delivered now, 200 aircraft can be built in 7 years – an average of 28.5 aircraft per year. That is, a brand new aircraft should roll out of the workshop every 13 days.
But the main snag in the arithmetic is not so much in the assembly of the airframes themselves, but in related industries. Delivering 60 serviceable PD-14 engines per year for "Perm Motors" is a serious challenge, and they are also needed for replacement and flight tests.
Moreover, the domestic market, which is positioned as a priority, is absent from the equation.
