Airships will not be able to compete with airplanes in passenger transportation due to their low speed, but they can occupy a niche in heavy cargo delivery. Dmitry Dekterev, a researcher at the Institute of Thermophysics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told TASS about this.

According to him, airships learned to fly back and forth a hundred years ago, but side-slipping and performing loading and unloading operations are the prospect of large-scale modernized models.

Pavel Bulat, scientific director of OOO "OKB "Kulon", agreed that such apparatuses should be considered as a promising object for transferring heavy cargo from one point to another and as a replacement for helicopters in this role.

Modern airships can be in demand for supplying remote areas where road construction is impossible, and helicopter logistics are too expensive. Their ability to hover over a point and perform complex maneuvers makes them a promising transport for industrial tasks.
