PAO "KAMAZ" and the manufacturing company "Moskommash" have developed the first prototype of a garbage truck on a K5 generation chassis, the automaker's press service reported. The model was created taking into account the end of the moratorium on weight control of special equipment for solid municipal waste in 2028.

The novelty is based on the two-axle KAMAZ-53253 (4x2) chassis with a short wheelbase of 3900 mm, specially designed for mounting municipal superstructures. With a gross weight of 18 tons, the chassis payload is 11.84 tons. The vehicle is equipped with a KAMAZ engine with a power of 310 hp, a robotic gearbox, and a comfortable low cab without a sleeping berth. The aluminum fuel tank with a volume of 260 liters has a heated fuel intake for winter operation. The rear air suspension in combination with the front leaf spring and a strong frame provide a high margin of reliability.

A "Moskommash" garbage truck superstructure with a useful body volume of 13.6 cubic meters is mounted on the chassis. The garbage truck is capable of compacting and transporting significant volumes of MSW while remaining within the permitted weight parameters.

The novelty will be presented at the COMTRANS-2026 exhibition in Kazan on September 22–25. Then the prototype will undergo bench and real tests. As part of the preparation for the moratorium lifting, 30 units on the KAMAZ-53253 chassis will be produced and sent to the fleets of regional MSW operators for pilot operation.
