On August 10, Telegram blocked 101,205 groups and channels. The 100,000 mark per day was exceeded for the first time since August 5, when 102,278 communities were restricted.
In total, since the beginning of August, the messenger has already deleted 834,113 groups and channels. Of these, Telegram classified 4,608 as terrorism-related.
The scale since the beginning of the year is even more significant: 22.59 million communities have been blocked, including 158,750 related to terrorism.
Telegram explains such moderation by a combination of user complaints and automatic monitoring. Since 2024, AI-based tools have been added to the system to help detect violations even before complaints are received.
