The production of RD-33 family engines for MiG-35 fighters has been officially and finally concentrated in Ufa. The Moscow Machine-Building Enterprise (MMP) named after V. V. Chernyshev joined "ODK-UMPO".
In addition to RD-33 engines, UMPO participates in the production of VK-2500 helicopter engines and manufactures AL-41 family engines for Su-35 and Su-57 fighters.
Financial business strategist Valeria Kelemenyan named two possible reasons for the merger of companies: cost reduction and elimination of structural redundancy.
UMPO itself ended 2025 with a loss of 14.3 billion rubles. In such a financial situation, management is forced to remove everything that does not create value.
In recent years, UMPO has been producing the same engines that MMP specializes in. Recently, the enterprise was threatened with bankruptcy for the fourth time in 6 months due to another debt of 39 million rubles.
