Domain by Passport: Almost 500 Thousand Addresses Have Already Been Verified Through "Gosuslugi"

Starting September 1, 2026, identification through ESIA will become mandatory

In Russia, the transition to mandatory identification of domain name owners through "Gosuslugi" continues. According to the Runity group of companies, more than 100 thousand administrators have already confirmed their data in the ESIA (Unified System of Identification and Authentication) system.

In total, approximately 103.6 thousand administrators and about 482.4 thousand domains belonging to them have passed verification to date. This is a significant part of the market, considering that the new requirements have not yet fully come into force.

This refers to the .ru, .рф, and .su domain zones — it is in these zones that mandatory identification will be introduced starting September 1. Without identity confirmation through ESIA, owners will not be able to manage their domains: make changes, renew registration, or perform other operations.

The requirement will apply to both new and existing domains. In fact, this means that all administrators will have to go through the verification procedure to maintain control over their resources.

Runity notes that the process is already actively underway, and the number of confirmed accounts and domains continues to grow as the deadline for the new rules approaches.
