Ex-head of Irkutsk Aviation Plant admits problem with MS-21 components

Alexander Veprev: we cannot repeat the situation of the 90s, we need to ensure production load

The Irkutsk Aviation Plant must fulfill the task of supplying four serial MS-21-310 aircraft according to the plan, despite all difficulties. This was stated by the former general director of the enterprise, Alexander Veprev.

According to him, the enterprise must operate rhythmically and stably. Veprev emphasized the need to determine the deadlines for completing experimental design work and the supply of components.

Despite financial difficulties and component problems, the 2026 supply plan for the state defense order, overhaul, and production of four serial MS-21 aircraft must be fulfilled.

Veprev noted that it is necessary to ensure a stable production load and not repeat the situation of the 90s. He called import substitution of all elements and systems the decisive factor for the construction time of the first serial liners.

It is also necessary to determine the start of financing for the second batch of serial MS-21s in order to avoid a production gap, which already exceeds 12 months.

Earlier, a modern high-tech treatment complex was put into operation at the IAZ site. It complies with Russian and international environmental standards.
