The Sollers Group has begun commissioning work at a new enterprise for the production of automotive safety systems. The factory was established on the basis of UAZ and will supply components for UAZ and Sollers vehicles, the company reported.
The product line includes steering wheels, airbags, seat belts, and electronic control units. The production is expected to involve deep localization: the company plans to master the casting of steering wheel frames from magnesium alloy and the sewing of materials for airbags.
The volume of investment in the project amounted to 1.5 billion rubles, of which 1.2 billion is a concessional loan from the Industrial Development Fund. Serial production will begin as early as April.
