Sollers has introduced a sandblasting chamber with abrasive recovery at the ZMZ site

A closed abrasive cycle will increase casting profitability

At the site of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ), the foundry enterprise Rosalit, part of the industrial group Sollers, has completed a comprehensive upgrade of the tooling preparation section. A modern chamber for sandblasting chill molds and core molds has been commissioned, a key stage in ensuring casting quality.

The new complex is an integrated system that includes:

  • a sealed chamber with a wear-resistant protective coating;
  • a multi-stage filtration and aspiration system for complete capture of industrial dust;
  • automated equipment for abrasive surface treatment;
  • a closed-loop system for collecting and recovering abrasive material;
  • certified personal protective equipment for the operator.

The introduction of the unit made it possible to optimize the workshop's internal logistics: movements of tooling between operations were reduced, equipment downtime was minimized, and overhead maintenance costs were lowered. Of particular economic importance is the abrasive recovery system, which ensures the reuse of up to 95% of the consumable material within the production cycle, simultaneously reducing the cost of the operation and decreasing waste generation.

The enterprise specializes in the production of high-tech automotive components using die casting and gravity casting methods, supplying products to enterprises of the Sollers group and other Russian automakers. The modernization of the tooling preparation section directly affects the stability of casting geometry and increases the service life of chill mold tooling by 20–30%.
