Merited Pilot Believes Russia's Aircraft Industry Salvation Lies Abroad

Oleg Smirnov proposed creating joint aviation projects in BRICS

Russia needs to cooperate with BRICS countries in the aircraft industry and create joint projects. This opinion was expressed in an interview with "Perviy Technicheskiy" by Oleg Smirnov, Merited Pilot of the USSR and member of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor.

He recalled that no country in the world today builds airplanes independently. Half of the globe works for Boeing, and all of Europe and other countries work for Airbus.

We will not get away from doing the same. Yes, our contacts are currently limited, but there are China, India, and Brazil, which are making their own excellent aircraft. We need to create some kind of concern in this direction. Indians are considered electronics experts No. 1. This is one of the proposals, by the way, - to unite the BRICS countries in the name of raising national aircraft construction.
Oleg Smirnov, Merited Pilot of the USSR

Currently, Russia is preparing for certification of import-substituted versions of the MC-21 and SJ-100 aircraft, and all procedures, as the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Rostec have promised many times, will be completed by the end of 2026.
