The National Payment Card System (NPCS) has announced the issuance of 475 million Mir cards in the ten years of its operation. This was reported in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel by Dmitry Dubynin, General Director of JSC "NPCS". According to him, in 2025, card issuance increased by more than 17%, and growth continues at a steady pace.
Over the ten years of operation of the Mir payment system, more than 86 billion transactions have been carried out for a total of over 100 trillion rubles.
Dubynin noted that the increase in the number of cards is due to the emergence of new services for customers, as well as the departure of international payment systems from the Russian market.
Mir cards operate not only in Russia, but also abroad: in Abkhazia, Belarus, South Ossetia, as well as limitedly in Cuba, Armenia, Vietnam and Tajikistan. The list of countries where the system is available continues to expand. At the same time, cards with expired validity remain valid on a permanent basis.
The Mir payment system was created in 2014 in response to economic sanctions from the United States and a number of European countries. It directly подчиняется to the Central Bank of Russia and is part of the national financial infrastructure, including the Faster Payments System. NPCS provides not only card issuance, but also transaction processing within the country and abroad.
