Starting January 1, 2026, payers will be able to make payments to the budgets of the Russian Federation using the digital ruble. This was announced by the Russian Treasury in its Telegram channel. The new feature is implemented jointly with the Bank of Russia within the framework of the provisions of Federal Law No. 303-FZ of July 31, 2025.
Payments in digital rubles will be accepted through the accounts of the Federal Treasury. To make a transfer, a digital "wallet" on the digital ruble platform and a unique accrual identifier are sufficient. Moreover, transfers are available not only to budgets but also to federal budgetary and autonomous institutions.
The digital ruble is an electronic form of national currency supported by the Central Bank, which provides instant and secure payments without the participation of intermediary banks. This simplifies budget payments and makes them transparent for government bodies and payers.
