For Russian aviation, the delivery of the first Tu-214 aircraft in three years is a huge event. The new MC-21 and Superjet airliners have not yet reached such a level of readiness, said Yuri Sytnik, Honored Pilot of Russia.
According to him, the Tu-204 and Tu-214 series are machines that can immediately cover the needs of airlines for 15-20 years.
Because everything new that we are doing, the MC-21, Superjet, are still planes in short pants.
Sytnik stated that the talk about fuel consumption, engine emissions, and the cost of the Tu-214 is complete nonsense.
This is an aircraft that can transport passengers from point A to point B, and it is already certified. Alas, our officials do not want to launch the Tu-214 into mass production.
The Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, Oleg Korobchenko, noted that in 2026, the Kazan Aviation Plantwill produce three more Tu-214 aircraft.
