It is difficult for the Russian aircraft industry to compete with Western companies Boeing and Airbus, as well as the potential of China in the industry. Promising domestic aircraft, in this regard, need to strive for new air traffic systems and unconventional layouts, said Andrey Dutov, General Director of the National Research Center (NRC) "N.E. Zhukovsky Institute".
He clarified that we are talking about the concept of "aircraft construction product", that is, a whole air traffic control system, where the aircraft is only a segment. That is, in the future, such a complex can only be sold together with a complete navigation system, remote diagnostics and other things that affect flight safety.
This will not be an airplane. There is no point in the traditional layout. Boeing and Airbus occupy 40% and 20% of the market, respectively, and China in the domestic market. And try to compete with them! The series are large, the market is full. That's all! We can only talk about unconventional aircraft layouts and new air traffic systems.
Dutov added that the information field is an important factor for safety and controllability of the aircraft. Russia has room to strive for this.
In the USA, for example, the air traffic control system overlaps 140%, that is, with overlap. The global Internet, which the States have, plays a very important role in this sense.
Chief Designer of the MC-21 Vitaly Naryshkin had previously also admitted that the aircraft needs to be constantly modernized in order to not lag behind in competition with Boeing and Airbus.
