A key session dedicated to the prospects for the development of Russian aviation by 2040 took place at the V Congress of Young Scientists in Sirius. Leading scientists and heads of the aviation industry — Sergey Chernyshev (Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences), Andrey Dutov (General Director of the National Research Center "Zhukovsky Institute"), Sergey Korotkov (General Designer of UAC), Vladislav Klochkov (Deputy General Director for Strategy of the "Zhukovsky Institute") and Sergey Khokhlov (Head of GosNIIAS) — discussed what Russian aviation will look like in 15 years.
Traditional approaches are exhausted. It is impossible to compete in the global market by offering familiar layouts. The future lies in unconventional aerodynamic designs, AI integration and new principles of air traffic.
Dutov also noted that the aircraft is no longer the final product — the entire ecosystem of air mobility has become it, including ground infrastructure and digital services.
Experts agreed that in order to remain at the forefront of technology, Russia needs to focus on the multiplicative effect of aviation developments — when advanced solutions in aerodynamics, materials science and automation "flow" into related industries, from automotive to railway transport.
Earlier, in a conversation with www1.ru , Andrey Dutov, General Director of the National Research Center "Zhukovsky Institute", Doctor of Technical Sciences, talked about the situation with the PD-26 ghost aircraft engine.
