Destroyer "Admiral Ushakov" Removed from the Navy's Combat Strength

The last time the Project 956 ship went to sea was in 2023

At the end of last week, on December 6, the Navy flag was lowered on the last destroyer of the Northern Fleet, "Admiral Ushakov" of Project 956 (cipher "Sarych"). Until 2004, it bore the name "Besstrashny".

The last time "Admiral Ushakov" went to sea was in 2023. The ship became the seventeenth in the project series, launched in 1993.

Currently, the Russian Navy (VMF) includes only one destroyer of this project — "Nastoychivy" with serial number 876. However, it has also been effectively inactive since 2015.

The main armament of Project 956 destroyers includes eight supersonic anti-ship missiles P-270 "Moskit", two twin 130-mm automatic artillery installations AK-130, and four six-barreled 30-mm artillery complexes AK-630M.

The day before, it became known that the K-132 "Irkutsk" submarine missile cruiser of Project 949A, cipher "Antey", was also removed from the Navy and sent for disposal.
