Footage has emerged online showing the mounting of a Russian air-launched strategic cruise missile of the "air-to-surface" class, the X-101, on a Tu-95MS bomber pylon. The date and location of the filming are unknown, but it appears the video is from the archives.
The footage may well show a modernized version of the Kh-101 with an improved optoelectronic guidance system, called "Product 504AP."
The video shows a trolley with a 7-meter, 2.4-ton missile being rolled up to the aircraft, which is then lifted by a winch to the pylon on the left wing of the aircraft.
X-101 Characteristics:
- Launch weight — up to 2400 kg
- Length — 7.45 m
- Maximum range — 5500 km
- Accuracy (circular error probable) — up to 20 m
It is worth mentioning that the missile entered mass production in 2010-2011. Distinctive features of the X-101 include reduced radar signature and the presence of a jamming system.
