Egypt abandons Russian Su-35s and chooses French Rafales

Cairo criticizes Russian aircraft - Russian fighters allegedly have "technical flaws"

Egypt has decided to abandon the purchase of Russian Su-35 fighters and instead choose French Rafale fighters. According to media reports, the Egyptian military is expressing serious complaints about the Su-35: they allegedly have an outdated radar system (RLS) of the "Irbis" type, high dependence on external guidance, as well as significant fuel consumption and increased thermal and radio signature.

According to Cairo, these "technical flaws" hinder the effective operation of the Su-35, and therefore Egypt decided to reject the Russian option, despite previously formalized contractual obligations.

At the same time, Egyptian representatives allegedly organized an information campaign to denigrate the reputation of the Russian aircraft in favor of the Rafale.

On the other hand, the Rafale is seen by Egypt as a more modern and profitable acquisition.

There is also data that some of the Su-35s, which were originally intended for Egypt, were received by Algeria.
