A T-80BVM tanker shared his experience of operating the latest modification of the Russian tank. According to him, with competent adjustment from a drone, the tank is capable of firing from closed positions more accurately than artillery.
However, along with this, there are also technical and operational problems. The installation of massive structures such as "king-mangals" and "porcupines" dramatically increases the wear and tear on the transmission and gearbox, and attaching them only to the turret leads to the breakdown of its drives.
The main issue remains the shortage of standard dynamic protection, especially the "Relikt" kits. Because of this, crews are forced to fill the DZ blocks with homemade inserts with plastic explosive from demining installations.
The vehicle has a powerful engine and high speed over rough terrain, which makes it effective in maneuverable combat. At the same time, crews note that electronics, individual components and noise still need to be improved to increase convenience and reliability in combat conditions.
Crews note that the potential of the T-80BVM is gradually being revealed, although it requires additional refinement. In some units, to increase reliability, they prefer proven solutions from earlier modifications, where communication and electronic systems have already proven themselves.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian military equipped the 152-mm self-propelled howitzer "Akatsiya" with "Buratino" dynamic protection.
