The Moscow court has заочно арестовал (arrested in absentia) the president of the "Auri" group of companies and one of the shareholders of ОАО «Балашихинский литейно-механический завод» (Balashikha Foundry and Mechanical Plant), Мкртич Окроян (Mkrtich Okroyan). He is the main figure in the case of supplying defective bearings for the landing gear of Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft.
Due to substandard parts, five aircraft were taken out of service. The damage caused was estimated at more than 229 million rubles.
According to the FSB, although Мкртич Окроян's entire business is concentrated in Russia, he lived most of the time in the UK, where his family acquired luxury real estate in the county of Surrey in 2020.
At the same time, the entrepreneur finally moved abroad after the security forces had a number of questions in 2019 about the activities of the companies that were part of his group.
