In 2037, Russia will deliver the first 24/7 scientific observatory with a Wi-Fi 5G analog (wireless local area network technology) to the prospective International Lunar Research Station (ILRS). This was announced by Konstantin Raikunov, Head of the Department of Space Systems for Fundamental and Applied Research at TsNIImash.
The possibility of deploying a space observatory, which will be the first consumer of the power plant on the Moon, is currently being studied.
According to him, the equipment will collect data from automatic scientific stations (on geology, typical inertia) and transmit it to the ILRS space observatory using a Wi-Fi analog. An onboard relay complex will be used to transmit information from the ILRS to Earth, the specialist explained.
The International Lunar Research Station is a Russian-Chinese project to create a research complex on the Moon. It will include systems for flights between Earth and its satellite, movement around the planet, and scientific equipment. The construction of the ILRS is scheduled for 2031-2035.
